The Nike Dunk Low SB ‘Sandy Bodecker’ takes inspiration from the one-of-a-kind Charity Dunk of 2003. The shoe features a patent leather upper in the signature colors of eBay, the online marketplace where it was sold in a charity auction. The proceeds went towards funding skateparks in Portland. The winner of the auction was kept a secret for years, until it was revealed to be Sandy Bodecker, who is widely considered the ‘patriarch of Nike Skateboarding’. To maintain the uniqueness of the original shoe, Nike destroyed the sample pair and limited production to just one unit. The current version of the shoe recreates this one-of-a-kind quality by using translucent chopped-up windows. The insoles of the shoe, designed by James Arizumi, feature custom photographs that pay homage to Sandy Bodecker’s legacy.
